“Dammit, Kyle. That’s enough!” I shouted. He froze and finally met my eyes. “I need you with me in this. Don’t push me away.”

Throwing the weights on the floor, Kyle grabbed my face, his gaze wild. “Why can’t you see that I’m not pushing you away?”

I stepped back and away from his touch. “Then what are you doing? You haven’t made love to me since that night. If you’re afraid of me getting hurt, you obviously don’t know me very well. I can take care of myself.” Turning on my heel, I stormed to the back room but didn’t get very far before he grabbed my arms and hauled me around.

 “Goddammit, Megan, I love you,” he shouted, squeezing my arms. Gasping, I stared at him wide-eyed. “The other night scared the fuck out of me. I could’ve lost you and all because of some cocksucker who wants to pay me back.” He stepped back and let me go, his hands shaking. “The anger I feel inside is consuming me. It’s all I can think about. I’m not going to be able to rest until it’s over.”

REVIEW: Tyler's Undoing (Gloves Off #1) By, L.P. Dover

Review

I have picked up multiple L.P. Dover books. I read the second chance series and while I didn’t like some of those books I found a few that made me want to keep trying. There is something about L.P. Dover’s writing, that while I might not like everything she releases, I keep coming back for more. I chose to pick this one up because the books revolved around MMA fighters. I have really gotten into the fighter romances and this one definitely didn’t disappoint.

When we meet Tyler he has finally made it. He is in the running for the Heavyweight title, he is about to take over his families gym, and he can have any woman he could ever want. When a new member catches his eye, Tyler knows he has to talk to her only he doesn’t know what he is in for. Kacey has grown up around fighters. Her brother is one of the most ruthless and hated fighters around. She left California to get away from him and take care of her dying Grandmother, the only family who actually loves her. When Kacey’s best friend drags her to a new gym she had no idea it would be an MMA gym. Now she has the unwanted attention from a fighter who is everything she doesn’t want.

I really loved Tyler. It didn’t take him long to be ready to let go of his bad boy ways. He was a good man right from the start and didn’t play any games. Tyler was definitely an alpha and once he saw Kacey it was all over. Tyler was protective, possessive, and definitely sexy. He could be really sweet at times too. Kacey, on the other hand, I didn’t really like in the beginning. Because of her past she was really judgmental when it came to fighters. Like downright bitchy when she speaks to them for the first time. It was kind of understandable but the level she took it to rubbed me the wrong way at first. Once she realized that not all fighter where like Kyle I began to like her. She was strong and didn’t let people walk all over her. Kacey definitely stood up for the people she loved.

While I love drama as much as the next person unnecessary drama is something I really really don’t like. I love it when an author is able to create a story that has drama and tension but doesn’t overdo it. L.P. Dover was definitely able to do that. While there was drama with Kacey’s brother there wasn’t unnecessary drama with Tyler and Kacey as a couple. I loved the story and the additional storyline the MMA fighting brought into it. The book was fast paced and kept me interested. I didn’t find myself bored or skimming paragraphs. I can’t wait to read about the rest of the boys!

REVIEW: Ryley's Revenge (Gloves Off #2) By, L.P. Dover

UFC Middleweight fighter, Ryley Jameson, swore it would never happen again. He was done with his ex, and over the pain she’d inflicted when she left him. At least, that’s what he tells people. Maybe if he says it enough, he’ll begin to believe it himself.

Regretting her decision to let Ryley go, Ashleigh Warren comes back into town and confronts him. Holding only one secret back, she puts the rest on the line and asks for a second chance. Too bad he’s not going to let her off easy.

Camden Jameson loves his twin brother, but his jealousy runs deep. They may be identical in looks, but that’s where the similarities end. When Ashleigh comes back into Ryley’s life, Camden has the perfect opportunity for revenge. Two birds, one stone. Review

Once I was done reading Tyler’s Undoing I knew I wasn’t going to be able to take a break from this world that L.P. Dover created. I immediately wanted to know about Ryley and this mysterious Ashleigh. There was a lot of history and drama there that Tyler wasn’t in the middle of so we don’t really know what happened. But Ryley was in the end of Tyler’s book and I fell in love in a few pages. I couldn’t wait to read through this and I wasn’t disappointed.

Ryley Jameson is so close to a title he can taste it, the only thing standing in his way is his twin brother. He also has to get Ashleigh out of his head, which is easy said the done. No matter what he does he can’t release his anger or forget his love for her. When Ashleigh comes back to town he doesn’t know if he can do it again. If she wants him she is going to have t0 fight for him and Ryley isn’t going to make it easy. Ashleigh fell in love hard, and the minute she did she ran. She ran right back to Colin, her safe place, and broke both Ryley’s and her heart in the process. She can’t do it anymore. Ashleigh is going back to LA to get Ryley back whether he wants her or not. There is more at stake than she is willing to admit.

Ryley was everything I wanted him to be. He was definitely a little bitter and hurt in the beginning. I have not read the prequel so the only thing I knew going in was that she left him. Ryley was definitely a character that had deep anger built up, more than he ever knew. Once we got past the hurt he was a great guy. Ryley was caring, sweet, and protective. When Ryley let her back in he was willing to do anything to keep her. I really liked Ashleigh. It didn’t take me long to warm up to her. While she had secrets she didn’t keep them for long. She was smart and brave. No matter what Ryley said to her she knew they belonged together and she didn’t give up. The two as a couple worked well together. Dover really made you feel how strong they were as a couple.

I really loved this drama and the problems in this book. There was the MMA element and their romance but it also went beyond that. The plot was really about revenge, whether it was Ryley’s, Colin’s, or Camden’s we never really knew. Camden and Colin created problems and drama that only brought the couple closer. It really made Ryley and Ashleigh grow as a team when they had to face them. It kept them both honest. Gabby was a great addition to the book as well. I didn’t like how jealous Kacey was, making Tyler choose, but I liked her character. I wish we could have seen more of Kacey and Tyler in this book. Seeing them after their HEA would have only made the book better.

The writing was just as fast paced and engaging as the first book in the series. There was so much more going on that it made the book hard to put down. I can’t wait to immerse myself in more of the Gloves Off world. More sexy MMA fighters are waiting for me!
