***Review***

This was a well written contemporary novel. It was filled with action that made the book a fast read. This book had so many things going for it, there was humor, suspense, action, and a little romance.

The romance is where the book lost some stars for me. There was very little throughout the story. By the time we could feel the romance heating up the book ended. So I felt like I was left hanging with that part of their life. We don't really know how they end up.

A.D Starrling created a great Co-Op series and this is the 3rd novella. Starrling has a knack for creating an action story that pulls you in and makes you feel like you are watching an action movie. There were so many twists and turns, it kept you engaged in the story. The writing flowed really well. If you like well written action-thrillers with little romance this is the novella series for you.

When I think of Rachel Van Dyken the first thing that comes to mind is Eagle Elite. She is one of my favorite authors and this book reminded me why. She came up with a quick read that pulls you in from the very first page and hold onto you until the end. The story of Marlon and Ray is set up to be a great enemies to lovers romance and I can’t wait to read more.

“One thing was certain. I should have never danced with him in the first place, because now it felt personal. Now it felt like the story of us.”

Marlon and Ray have known each other since High School and let me tell you they were not the best of friends. They were enemies. Ray was the rich girl with all of the friends and the perfect boyfriend. Marlon was the poor boy that got bullied and worked for Ray’s family. They had one night together and then it was back to not knowing each other and it killed Marlon. Now they are grown up and thrown back together. I loved Ray. She was not the normal rich girl that goes through a transformation. Ray has had a hard life that she keeps hidden. She’s more sensitive than anyone can imagine, especially Marlon. Marlon on the other hand was someone I didn’t warm up to. He was kind of an asshole which surprised me because I expected that he was going to be the one I liked. He was judgmental an he couldn’t let go of the past. I mean I understand maybe holding onto it for a little while, maybe, but I just didn’t like how he handled it. I was starting to warm up at the end but we will see if he can redeem himself in the next books.

I am really excited about these books. This series reminded me that Rachel Van Dyken has a talent to create storylines that are interesting and characters that are likeable and lovely. The writing was smooth, and it flowed. I really can’t wait for the next ones. It is definitely a quick read which was disappointing, but the next installments will be worth the wait I’m sure.

*Review*

This is the first book in the Here’s to series. This is one of the first books I have picked up from this author and it turned out to be an ok book. While I didn’t absolutely over the moon love it, I didn’t hate it either. It has its touching moments and for my tastes it also has its problems but I found myself enjoying this book by the end. The characters were lovely and the writing was good. The story seemed to have a “shiny” quality to it in the beginning that I wasn’t sure I was enjoying but the “shiny” coating finally fell away there were real characters and a real story that you love.

Rae and Hudson have their meet cute and the connection starts there. The author didn’t waste any time in having us feel the connection that these two characters had. Hudson was a great father. Sweet, attentive, and really all about Joey. Joey herself was a great addition to the story. I lived for her moments in this book. Rae is sassy and a normal young person not looking for anything serious or to even settle down. I got that and I loved watching her journey falling in love with Hudson and Joey. I was worried that her career dreams kind of just fell to the wayside though.

Like I said this series is the first I have picked up from Teagan and I think I will continue to read them. If you are not a fan of super sweet and soft reads this book isn’t for you. I love sweet books as long as I don’t get bored. I felt myself, in the first half, get bored with the pace but I held on a stuck through and Teagan ended up doing an amazing job. There are some issues that I felt just got brushed away that should have been addressed but maybe we will get the answers in the other books through the other characters. The “shiny-ness” fell away and we were left with a real story filled with love and real characters. I am definitely going to be picking up the rest of the series because the interactions with the secondary characters were awesome as well.

REVIEW: Blind Love (Cowboy and Angels #5) By, Kelly Elliot

Kelly Elliot. Those are really the only two words you need to hear from me to know that this book was amazing. Kelly Elliot has a talent for writing love stories that pull you in and make you feel every emotion possible. Harley and Tripp have a second chance at love and you better believe I wanted to be there for every minute of it. I haven’t read the other books in this series, but Harley and Tripp made me want to know about these other couples and the other family members.

“All my problems would have to wait. Tonight was all about the perfect love story-two characters who were destined to be together forever. Something I thought I knew about…once upon a time.”

Let’s start with Tripp. The poor guy had the women of his dreams and on the path to the career he always wanted. The only thing he forgot to think about it the woman he wanted to make his partner. Tripp lost the love of his life in one night and it closed him off. I loved Tripp right from the start. He is sensitive, loving, and down right hot. Don’t get me wrong, he makes mistakes, but he pays for them. Tripp grows and matures. He becomes his own person with the support of his family and Harley. Tripp is also stubborn which makes him frustrating during a lot of this book.

Harley frustrated me. She left the love of her life behind to save him from himself. Which is a very selfless thing to do but I was sad for Tripp. No matter how much understood why Harley did what she did. Harley was a strong character for the most part. She owned a lot of her own problems. Harley wasn’t a character that tried to push the blame on Tripp or anyone else. She took ownership and that was impressive. The only thing that bothered me about Harley was that I don’t think she really fought for Tripp. She explained herself, she told him how she felt, but then she left everyone else to fight for their love story.

            “Its’s always been you, Harley. Always. And it will be for the rest of my life.”

I started reading Kelly Elliot when Wanted came out. I fell in love with her writing then and it has only grown and gotten better. There used to be things that I needed to over look to enjoy her books but now I devoured every word. She created tension that both drove me crazy and kept me in the story. I think I may have hidden my phone and read during work. Oops #sorrynotsorry. Kelly Elliot will always be worth it. This story will have a special place in my heart. It definitely went to the top of my second chance romance books. The story was sweet, romantic, but also had some steamy moments. Read this. Like yesterday.

Review

Garrett is the second book is the Cold Fury series. We first met him in Alex. If you haven’t read Alex don’t worry they are both stand-alone books. We are following the Cold Fury hockey team out of Raleigh. I was really happy when I read that Garrett would be next. I loved his character in Alex and now we get him in a full book.

“I love women and love fucking them. But they take a backseat to hockey…my one true love. Always have, always will.”

Garrett Samuelson is a known player on the Cold Fury team. He never goes out with the same women, his max has been three dates but once he beds them they are forgotten the next day. Now that the summer is over he gets to go back to his favorite thing ever, hockey. When Garrett enters the party before the first practice he meets Olivia. He has no idea who she is but she is beautiful and now she is his new challenge.

“I let the warmth of his words spread through me. I let them coat me from the inside to the outside in comfort and happiness that Garrett Samuelson is saying he wants me…despite the sickness and uncertainty of my future.”

Olivia Case has always played her life safe. She would rather spend a night at home with a book to a party but he life is about to change forever. Olivia has just found out that she has a serious medical condition. Her whole life is about to change and complicating that is not something she wants. When Olivia meets Garrett for the first time there is a spark that is undeniable. They both agree to a date, maybe two, a fling only because that is all either of them can handle. Until Garrett wants more and Olivia finds she does too, and she can’t keep her secret forever because her treatment is starting.

I really loved Garrett in this story. He was fun, sexy, and oh so caring. For a playboy he sure knew how to take care of his girlfriend. Unlike his actual girlfriend. Garrett really stepped up to the plate with Olivia. He didn’t take her hiding her illness against her. He understood and stayed even though everyone second guessed him. Olivia was another matter. I am on the fence with Olivia. There were just some things that made me really not like her. I mean what college graduate doesn’t know what an oncologist is? Anyway…when you are done reading this review there is a bit of a spoilery section underneath the giveaways and I will go into more detail why I didn’t like her. I did like her in the other half of this book as well. She was fun and her banter with Garrett was funny and sweet. She was always trying to stay positive and strong and that was endearing.

“Nothing…no woman… no piece of ass or fake book thrust in my face will ever turn my eye away from you. Nothing and no one will ever come close to making me feel the way I do just when I’m holding your hand, or listening to your breath at night. Nothing compares”……  “Do you understand me Olivia? Nothing compares to you.”

The story was well written and Sawyer Bennett really handled the subject matter well. It is a difficult subject but this book can give people hope. Alex was a great addition to this. He really stood up for Garrett and tried to get them to see where they were wrong and smack some sense into Olivia. I loved the book. The ending not so much. I can’t wait for another Cold Fury novel!

So anyway if you haven’t already guessed Olivia has cancer. Garrett has spent the whole book loving and supporting her and trying to get her to realize she has someone to lean on with this stuff. Someone that will support her. She spends most of the book not taking it. She wants to be strong and not lean on Garrett because he isn’t a relationship guy.

Towards the end she decides that he deserves better than being left with the grief of her POSSIBLE death. And yes that is a legitatmite fear but the way she goes about it pisses me off. She just leaves. No word nothing until she is forced to actually talk to him and say the words. It was really immature and childish.

When she decides to get him back she is surprised when he is so pissed he can’t take her back. I mean it was an apology and an “I did it because I love you so much”. Which to me is a cope out. She got scared and pushed him away. Did she admit it to anyone but herself and Alex? No. And guess what Garrett still had to come back and apologies for the WAY HE ACTED!!! I mean really. I’ve had to get used to the easy way Sawyer Bennett’s character patch up their relationships. It’s nothing about her writing I just like the groveling to at least match the pain of the separation. (I think the groveling is romantic so I like the big romantic gestures.) Its fine if I’m the only one but this one really drove me nuts. Don’t get me wrong I loved this book and would definitely recommend it to everyone but it also drove me completely nuts in the end.
