REVIEW: Unexpected (The Vault) By, Aleatha Romig

*Paul*
What will happen... when Jenn learns the truth that has been brewing deep inside me?
...when she learns my desires have been restrained?
...when containing them is no longer possible?
Will she flee when there’s no place to run?
Traveling to the isolation of a tropical island, we agree to lay our marriage and our future on the line. It’s the only way to face the demons—my demons—that threaten our life together.
For us to make our marriage work, we must break down barriers, reveal the hidden places, and shine light where darkness has taken root.
This reprieve from life is meant to be about us, our marriage, and our future.
It is...until the unexpected happens...
Will our marriage survive? Will we?
This suspenseful, steamy stand-alone novella follows Paul and Jenn Masters, characters previously introduced in the novella UNCONVENTIONAL. This quick, spicy story may be read completely on its own or even before UNCONVENTIONAL.

**Review**
I am going to do this review a bit differently. If you have noticed I did not give this book a rating because I honestly couldn't land on a rating that I thought was fair or one that I could live with. I had so many emotions going through me while reading this: interest, enjoyment, surprise, confusion, anger, and finally calm. I had to take a few days because even though this is a novella I wanted to be clear from those emotions. A good book makes you feel all of those things so I guess the novella did it's job.

Paul and Jenn have been married for quite a while. It was love at first sight for both of them. They have never questioned their love. When the story opens the couple is in the middle of signing divorce papers. I know crazy right? But this is a story about a couple coming back to each other. That is definitely what this story was. They are both holding secrets that could make or break their marriage and what do they have to loose? Pretending to be something their not and keeping those secrets have started the cracks. Might as well expose those secrets and see if the cracks heal or break completely.

Aleatha Romig definitely proved that she has a way with words with this novella. She created a great story and two characters that you really feel for. Both characters are really likeable. The secrets they are holding don't stay secrets for long except for Jenn's which drove me a little crazy but it was also understandable. Aleatha shows you that divorce isn't always the answer. She also shows that she can really bring the heat. Some of the scene were very steamy and definitely well written.

Ok so now after reading this you're like, why don't you know what to give this book? Well let me show you.

Again you're probably asking why I have as problem with this since its a trigger warning. I have a problem with it because it was a vague trigger warning that didn't give the reader any real warning of what is about to come. This is what really and truly bothered me. While none of what happens bothers me personally, even though I have my own past it doesn't trigger me, it could definitely trigger someone else. I applaud Aleatha Romig for having a trigger warning. I just would have wanted a less vague one.

So all in all I thought the book was well written, the story was interesting, and the characters were believable. I would just take caution in reading this one. There is a plot point in the book that is a trigger for some people. So be aware of that as a reader.
