The race is on to find the Rebirth paranormals.

Elijah doesn’t have feelings. He doesn’t care, nor does he empathize, until the day Audrey was found. While searching her mind telepathically, things suddenly changed for him. He never imagined that he would face all the emotions plaguing him. Now he is on a mission to find the rumored Rebirth creature. What happens when a creature never meant to feel anything suddenly becomes attached to another?

Valentine always knew there was something…different about her. While she hated even the thought of blood, she loved to help those in need. She felt an instant connection with her patients and always strived to save lives. Her adoptive sister always told her that she cared too much. That she couldn’t save everyone. And now there is a colder than ice man in her life that won’t go away, and won’t take no for an answer. The problem is, she never wanted to push him away, even though she knows he will be her downfall.

"I thought I would destroy her, and in the end, she destroyed me. I was at peace."

This is the follow up book in the rebirth series. Becca Vincenza does it again. I didn’t think this book could be anywhere near as good as the first one but she makes you fall in love with Elijah and Valentine. They have their own story. Their own complications to overcome and their own emotions they need to come to terms with. The book was everything I hoped it would be and more.

Elijah is a wraith that feeds off of fear and other scary things. We met him in the first book. Audrey has woken up Elijah’s emotions which is weird because wraith are supposed to be heartless and emotionless. The York clan has sent Elijah to get Valentine. Someone they think is another rebirth paranormal. They just are not sure which kind. When her powers are revealed another clan wants her as well. It is up to Elijah to get her to safety with the York clan.

Valentine is a new character. She is a nurse that can’t stand the sight of blood but she can heal people with just her hands. So she works at the local hospital anyway. She is a strong character that doesn’t mind standing up to Elijah. She can’t help but be fascinated with him. She is kind and caring but her personality fits Elijah’s perfectly.

Their relationship was a confusing one for both of them. Elijah is supposed to be heartless, emotionless, and unable to love. When Audrey awakens some of his emotions Valentine completely changes everything for them. This book was beautiful. They had to get through all of their action and drama while trying to figure out how they feel about each other and what that means. This is a true beautiful HEA though. Love it.

Amani was another great character add to the list from the Rebirth series. She was sassy, funny, and very protective of Valentine. She is the ultimate best friend. I loved her character.

Let’s just say that if you thought the first one has twists and turns get ready for this book. The book was intense, heartbreaking, nerve-wreaking, and amazing. I loved everything about this book. It can be read as a stand-alone but you should definitely pick up Damaged as well. I can’t decide which book is my favorite. Read them and decide for yourself! I can’t wait for more books!
