Here's to Tomorrow (Here's To, #1)

Book Blurb:

SEXY SINGLE DAD ROMANCE!

HUDSON

When I became a single father at seventeen, I knew my path wasn't going to be easy. Hell, sometimes it sucked. Year after year, I tirelessly busted my ass until my business was booming. Until my daughter was happy. Until life? It was good. Settled. But sometimes being settled is overrated. Boring. Especially when a little excitement walks through my door in the shape of Rae Kamden. With her sarcastic mouth and smartass comebacks, she's the type of girl still sowing her wild oats and not looking to settle. Not with a guy like me.

RAE

I've been stuck in this small town since I was a child and nothing is going to keep me here. Not anymore. Done being tied down, I'm out of here the first chance I get. This town can kiss my ass goodbye. I'm twenty-two. Single. Unwilling to settle. But if I did? It wouldn't be with Hudson Tamell. So explain to me why the moment he looks up from under the hood of my car, the sarcastic replies on my lips come out sounding sweeter. Why does he make me want to settle down, right here, with him? That's not what I wanted. But maybe it's what I need.

*Review*

This is the first book in the Here’s to series. This is one of the first books I have picked up from this author and it turned out to be an ok book. While I didn’t absolutely over the moon love it, I didn’t hate it either. It has its touching moments and for my tastes it also has its problems but I found myself enjoying this book by the end. The characters were lovely and the writing was good. The story seemed to have a “shiny” quality to it in the beginning that I wasn’t sure I was enjoying but the “shiny” coating finally fell away there were real characters and a real story that you love.

Rae and Hudson have their meet cute and the connection starts there. The author didn’t waste any time in having us feel the connection that these two characters had. Hudson was a great father. Sweet, attentive, and really all about Joey. Joey herself was a great addition to the story. I lived for her moments in this book. Rae is sassy and a normal young person not looking for anything serious or to even settle down. I got that and I loved watching her journey falling in love with Hudson and Joey. I was worried that her career dreams kind of just fell to the wayside though.

Like I said this series is the first I have picked up from Teagan and I think I will continue to read them. If you are not a fan of super sweet and soft reads this book isn’t for you. I love sweet books as long as I don’t get bored. I felt myself, in the first half, get bored with the pace but I held on a stuck through and Teagan ended up doing an amazing job. There are some issues that I felt just got brushed away that should have been addressed but maybe we will get the answers in the other books through the other characters. The “shiny-ness” fell away and we were left with a real story filled with love and real characters. I am definitely going to be picking up the rest of the series because the interactions with the secondary characters were awesome as well.

Here's to Forever (Here's To, #1.5)

Book Blurb:

HUDSON

I've been living in a blissful bubble for nearly a year now. Everything with Rae is perfect, and I feel like we're on the fast track to forever. Then I go and do something stupid and suddenly we're speeding toward Splitsville. Well, to be fair, I've been doing something stupid. I just haven't had the balls to tell her about it. It could break us. Or make us stronger. I'm only hoping she sees things my way...

 RAE

I never anticipated my life looking like it does, living with my boyfriend and his eight-year-old daughter. But here I am, happier than I could have ever imagined. Until Hudson screws it all up, telling lie after lie after freakin' lie. But he thinks he's "doing the right thing". He doesn't see things my way... How am I supposed to say yes to forever when I can't even trust my tomorrow? Maybe this was all a mistake...

Here's to Yesterday (Here's To, #2)

Book Blurb:

You're not supposed to fall in love with your boyfriend's brother...

HER

My entire life has been "perfect" for as long as I can remember. A loving family, a boyfriend who adores me, and anything I wanted, I got. But it was all a lie, a façade. My family isn't loving, my boyfriend is more interested in my body than my mind, and it turns out money can't buy happiness. I've felt lost and stuck for far too long. Then, everything changed when I was least expecting it. It wasn't supposed to happen. Not with...him.

HIM

I want to make one thing clear: I saw her first. Not that it makes anything okay, but it's true. The moment she walked into my line of sight, I knew she was something special. I could see past the mask she wore, could see right down to her soul. I recognized instantly that she needed a friend...and it just so happens I did too. So, I wormed my way in. Took her out on the town, forced her from her solitary existence. Together we grew brave, stepped outside the boxes we'd been placed in. Walked a thin line between "just friends" and something more. I just didn't mean to fall in love with...her.

Exclusive Excerpt:

“Three days is all you could wait to see me again?” I feigned confidence to hide my surprise at the sight of the angel warrior in the lobby of Hamerstein and Associates. What in the dickens is he doing here?

And why the hell did he look like he just walked off a runway? Hands shoved in his pockets. A suit that hung on his broad frame like it was made for him. Dark hair mussed by the wind.

But those eyes…shrewd, yet pleasure evident in them as I approached. My heart stuttered, but my strides were fluid instead of betraying the slight tremor in my legs.

We weren’t properly introduced,” he said as he closed the distance between us.

“Ever consider there’s a reason for that?”

He grinned, and I looked down at my clothes to make sure they hadn’t evaporated on the spot. Lord knew I felt like ripping them off.

“You don’t strike me as a runner.”

What the hell? Maybe I didn’t work out religiously—okay, at all—but I was in damn good shape. I lifted my chin. “Well, you strike me as a stalker.”

His eyes danced, but his mouth quirked down as if the accusation was a foreign one and he didn’t quite know what to do with it.

“Would you believe I happened to be in the neighborhood? Wanted to hear that Southern drawl again?”

“Not a chance.” I lifted my chin, and his eyes raked down the column of my neck. I flexed my fingers so as not to touch the skin where his look had singed me. I couldn’t do this. Feel whatever this was. “You’ve said hello. Now, I have work to do.”

I spun, and he caught me by the elbow. His breath on my ear raised every hair on my body. “See. A runner.”

Was he insinuating I was a coward? I whirled back around to set him straight and immediately regretted it. His face was inches from mine. I held my breath to keep from burying my nose in his suit. No one should smell that good. Not without a warning.

“I hope this isn’t your usual approach with women.”

Fuck him and that gorgeous smile. It lit his whole face and made him even more impossibly handsome.

“They usually approach me.”

I rolled my lips together. “That explains a lot.”

Don’t you want to know why I’m here?” His voice was so low that I leaned in closer to hear him. Another mistake. I was too close, all in his personal space.

“You want a proper introduction.” I thrust my hand out, creating some distance. “Vivian DeGraw. Though you already know that. Now goodbye.”

His fingers clasped my hand and squeezed. He didn’t shake, just held me in place. “Daniel Elliott. And this most definitely isn’t goodbye.”

RELEASE DAY and REVIEW: Broken Love Story (Love Story #3) By, Natasha Madison

Broken Love Story

By Natasha Madison
Release Day- July 10th

Samantha:

I had the perfect life; a husband who loved me, and two kids who were my world.

Until someone else answered his phone and my perfect life shattered.

When he died, I was left with answers he couldn't give me and a box full of lies.

He left me broken.

Blake:

I fell in love when I was fifteen, knowing she was the one.

For five years, she was my everything—my every breath, every heartbeat, every thought.

She made me promise to move on, promise to find love again, but I broke those promises because I can't move on.

Two broken souls brought together by tragedy and heartbreak.
Can a broken love story be fixed?

When her nose isn't buried in a book, or her fingers flying across a keyboard writing, she's in the kitchen creating gourmet meals. You can find her, in four inch heels no less, in the car chauffeuring kids, or possibly with her husband scheduling his business trips. It's a good thing her characters do what she says, because even her Labrador doesn't listen to her...

Review

Broken Love Story is just that. Two people who think they are broken beyond repair learn what it is like to be loved not only for your broken parts but for the parts that slowly mend themselves back together. This isn’t a one sided broken either. Both Blake and Samantha have been left behind by people they love. Their pasts may be different and their presents may be complicated but that doesn’t stop love. Love finds you no matter what.

Blake lost the love of his life at a young age. He grew up but didn’t grow out of the love that he had for her. He misses her every day and every day he makes the choice to not move on. Blake holds on even though he knows that it isn’t healthy. Blake is a very self-aware character that cares a lot about other people. He can see past his own ties to Samantha’s heartbreak to be there for her even though she is a complete stranger. His ties to Samantha could have definitely made it a lot harder for him and Sam.

Samantha, in my own opinion, has it even worse than Blake. The love of her life not only died after years of marriage but lied to her throughout most of it. Samantha not only has to deal with the death of a loved one she has to deal with the aftermath of his infidelity and the choices he made. I was worried about Samantha’s character in the beginning. I was worried that she was going to be a push-over when she needed to be strong but I was wrong. She had her moments of weakness but everyone does. It was her moments of strength that made her a real character.

Between the two of them these characters know more heartbreak than any one person should. The author does this in a beautiful way. She makes it a real transition. The way she wrote their love story was a slow build that made sense. There wasn’t a lot of drama with them as a couple. While their lives through 90% of the book was all drama their love story wasn’t. So, if you’re looking for something with a lot of angst and back and forth this book is not for you. I loved how the author created characters that cared about other people and could see past their own drama to help out a complete stranger.

One thing this book was lacking, whether good or bad is up to your preference, was the sex scenes. There was probably one at the very end of the book which makes sense but for people who are looking for a lot of steam it was definitely missing. Don’t get me wrong there was definitely a steamy scene but there was literally only one maybe two.

All in all, I thought this book was pretty good. It was a quick read, I think I read it in about a day, but I didn’t think there was anything missing. The story line was flushed out and the characters had substance. There wasn’t any of those unnecessary plot twists that you find in a lot of books. If you’re looking for a sweet innocent quick read this is definitely the book for you. I definitely want to read the other books in this series and get their perspectives.

REVIEW: The Way We Burn By, M. Leighton

Irresistible attraction. Unimaginable danger.

I knew from the moment Noah Williamson walked into the diner that he was haunted—deeply haunted—but I couldn’t resist the lure of him. He was gorgeous and fascinating and mysterious, and like a delicate moth to a brilliant blue flame, I was drawn to him. Drawn to his fire.

But if I’d known about his job, about what happened to his wife, I’d have run the other way. Before I got caught up in the red-hot blaze of his life. Before everything in my world got burned to the ground.

It’s too late to run now. I hesitated and that was it. I fell. I fell for him before I knew there was danger in loving him.

Noah once told me that this is the way we burn—together or not at all. At the time, I didn’t know what that meant.

Now I do.

Review

“I make a point not to notice men, especially gorgeous/dangerous/catnip ones, but Noah even got my attention.”

It has taken me a considerable amount of time to sit down and write my review with this book, which is weird because with anything I have read from Michelle I can easily write down my emotional journey and how much I loved it. This time Michelle threw a curveball at me and what a curveball it turned out to be. This story was everything I needed and wanted and so much more. Michelle Leighton created something special with these characters and I am so glad to have gone on this journey even if I was skeptical. I had faith in Michelle and the stories she tells and it paid off.

“But maybe it’s time I take the leap, take the big risk. Risk another fall just in case I learn to fly”

If any of you have read a M. Leighton book then you know that she can create some special characters. Poppy and Noah are no different. Poppy is a deep and complicated character. The best part is, is that you don’t even know it. Michelle gave Poppy so many layers that after each one is peeled back you can’t help but love her even more. Poppy has so many sides to her and so many sides that she isn’t aware of until Noah brings them out of her.

“I have a feeling that if things progress between Noah and me, it’ll happen like a hurricane. A deceptively calm, shockingly intense, all consuming hurricane. It’ll creep up out of nowhere and hit me hard and fast. It will be relentless. And I will be wrecked.”

Noah, what can I say about Noah? At first he was the source of my skepticism. Usually, for me, I hate when a main character has a deceased significant other. It’s weird I know but it’s a storyline that just doesn’t speak to me. Michelle was able to make me rethink everything. I loved Noah. Noah is quiet, reserved, and oh so mysterious. Not only to Poppy but us as the reader. Noah is fierce when it comes to what he wants and those he loves. We don’t really know much about him for the first half of the book but once Michelle starts peeling back those layers we see the real Noah. The broken, tortured, fierce, loving, all consuming Noah.

“Because I’m yours and you’re mine. Forever. We’re written in ink. Tattooed inside each other, in the only place that matters.”

The Way We Burn is a story unlike any other we have gotten from Michelle. I know she went outside of her comfort zone in writing and then releasing this book and I will be the first to say that I am so glad that she did it. The story grabbed you from the minute you opened it and didn't let you go. I can’t even say at the end because I am still thinking about it days later. Be ready for something new and brilliant from Michelle that still has the writing that long time fans have come to love. The Way We Burn is everything you want and nothing you would expect. Be prepared for captivating soul-burning romance and kindle/paperback-dropping twists. This is a story that will stick with you. Be prepared and go in blind. It’ll be worth it.

This is where you can stalk M. Leighton <3

REVIEW: Seaside Secrets (Love in Bloom #24; Seaside Summers #4) By, Melissa Foster

Tony Black is the hottest surfer on the planet. He travels the world throughout the year and spends his summers on Cape Cod with his friends, at the Seaside cottages in Wellfleet, Massachusetts. He’s got his choice of women, but Amy Maples is the one he wants. Fourteen years ago she was his for an entire summer, until a devastating accident changed everything, and what they had seemed like it had never existed—at least for her.

Amy Maples is as consistent as the day is long. She’s spent summers on Cape Cod forever, she always does the right thing, and she’s spent years trying to reclaim the heart of Tony Black, the only man she’s ever loved. She’s back for a summer of fun with her friends at Seaside, only this year she’s been offered the opportunity of a lifetime thousands of miles away, and she’s decided to try one last time to reconnect with Tony. But having a relationship with Tony means dealing with her past—and dealing with her past may knock her to her knees.

Review

I am so excited about this book. I think I have been waiting for this particular Seaside installment since the very first one. Amy and Tony have been some of my favorite characters since I started this series and I am really excited to see them get their HEA. This book was beautifully written just like all of the other books by Melissa Foster but this one was filled with so many more emotions that I am used to. It nearly ripped my heart out but I loved every second. Each characters always had their little things that they had to get through but Tony and Amy had past hurts and a lot of denial they had to get through. It made the HEA that much sweeter.

“He loved Bella, Caden, and the others goddamn it. What he felt for Amy was so much bigger than friendship, it threatened to stop his fucking heart.”

Amy Maples has been in love with Tony since she was six years old. They spent one summer together when they were eighteen and she has yet to feel anything close to it. Now she is going to try one last time to reclaim his love and his heart before she leaves Seaside for a new job. When the seduction doesn’t go as planned she plans to take the job in Australia. This job will take her away for two years, hopefully long enough to get over Tony. He has made his feelings very clear and now it is time to get over him once and for all.

“You’re everything to me, Amy. You’re the first thing I think of when I wake up and the last thing I think of before I fall asleep.”

Tony Black has been in love with Amy for as long as he can remember. When the summer before college ends in tragedy and Amy pushes him away he leaves more broken then he could ever imagine. Now he tries to love Amy from a far. He doesn’t want to risk losing her again or Amy tossing him aside so easily again. Never mind neither one of them has really dealt with what happened that summer. When Amy takes his advice and takes the job he has to wonder if he made the biggest mistake of his life.

“It’s our decision this time, Amy. There are no outside influences that can push us one way or the other. There’s only you and me and what could be.”

The first half of this book was so heart-wrenching I couldn’t help but be teary through it. I was literally holding my breath through every chapter in the first half. Reading Amy putting her heart on the line over and over again only to come to the conclusion that Tony no longer loves her hurt. A lot. But I also think adding Tony’s POV and seeing how much letting her go hurt him made it even worse. Melissa was able to create a story that stands completely on its own in the Love in Bloom overall series. The rawness and the heartbreak of their story makes this one of my favorite reads.

“I want to wrap you up and hold you tight.” He kissed the corners of her mouth. “I want to get to know every inch of your beautiful body again, until I know how it changes when you breathe.”

Tony and Amy have a lot of past to work through. Never mind what happened that summer but also the weight their parents left. Tony’s dad is gone but that doesn’t mean he didn’t play a part in Amy and Tony splitting up that summer. Amy’s overbearing father also had some part to play and their story was about coming to terms with everything that happened. All of the regrets and lost years and coming out the other side more in love then they ever were. We also get the lovable crazy girls and Jamie from the first three books. We get a very nice ending for the main group at Seaside that left all of the pain we saw in the beginning totally worth it.

“I know I told you to take the job with Duke, and I don’t want to stand in your way, but I want you with me, Amy. Every day, every night, every fucking minute of my life.”

While I have always appreciated Melissa’s drama free reading I loved how she mixed it up and I wouldn’t even call this drama. This wasn’t some angsty drama but an emotional reconnection. Melissa Foster has a writing style that pulls you into the story and wish you owned a condo on the cape alongside all of these Seaside friends. She created a stunning story that left me heartbroken in the beginning but completely sighing and smiling with happiness at the end. I cannot wait to read more from this series. I highly recommend Melissa Foster’s books. EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM!

“We’ve only been together a short while, but we’ve loved each other a lifetime. Yes, I’ll change everything for you.”

REVIEW: Seduce (Succubus Kiss #1) By, Jennifer Snyder

Life isn’t so bad for succubus, Kenna Blake. True, she seems to be the only succubus with a conscience and a specific strategy for finding her male meals, but she has a cute new apartment, a budding graphic design business, and the most unique friends she’s ever had.

Her personal love life, however, is non-existent.

Until the legendary vampire Randal Vincent sweeps into her life. Even though he isn’t someone she set out to date, at least she can kiss him without killing him. But when you’re dating someone who’s the inspiration for Dracula, there are bound to be a few hiccups along the way…

Review
“Randal Vincent was seducing the succubus, and I was letting him.”

I am a huge fan of paranormal books and I was glad that I decided to try this one out. Seduce is a great opener in this new series. I missed the prequel to this series but I was able to read the whole thing without feeling like I missed anything. I did go back and buy the prequel because I wanted to know Kenna’s character better but it really wasn’t needed.

Kenna is a great character. While she has embraced her transformation into a succubus she fights the corruption that comes with being a succubus. She keeps her conscious and only takes what she needs. Kenna even tries to leave the man she takes from better in some way. Whether it’s a compliment to a nerdy shy guy or a life lesson to an asshole. She was a great character to get to know.

Randal was an intriguing character. We don’t know much about him and I am not sure I even liked him. I was kind of confused on his character. I mean he was half of the synopsis but we don’t get much from him. We get a few bits and pieces but not enough to be convinced he is the love interest.

There were some other notable side characters. I loved Dex. Even though he is supposed to be the hot best boy friend or whatever we saw more to his personality then we did Randal. Dex was funny and charming and I can’t wait to read more about him. Sage is Kenna best and only girlfriend. I don’t know how to read her just yet. She has a past with Randal and I kind of think this could somehow turn bad in future books but who knows. She is a mystery with a fiery temper that is for sure.

The romance was lacking for me. There wasn’t a clear romantic lead or interest. Kenna seems to be head over heels for a human man that she can’t have but she is in lust with Randal. I was made to believe that Randal was a bigger character than he ended up being because of the synopsis. We really don’t know who she has feelings for in this book. To me the synopsis was misleading and the real romantic interest is the human guy who only spoke like two words this whole book. Overall the romance was a miss for me.

I do have to say Jennifer Snyder created a series that I am very interested in. She wrote a main character that is strong and likeable. She has a feisty side and Kenna stands up for what she believes in. Jennifer did well with the plot and a few of the characters were really well developed. She did really well with the world building too. I just wish the romantic part of the book was done better. Anyways, I will definitely be reading more from this series and I can’t wait for the next one!
