Ella Patton and Liam Stone return in the breathtaking conclusion to the steamy, contentious love affair that began in Control.

Will you marry me? Those four little words should be a dream come true. But for Ella Patton, they’re the start of a waking nightmare. For despite the insatiable desire she feels for Liam Stone, marriage is out of the question—divorcing her abusive husband, Blaine, would be too dangerous to even contemplate. Besides, Ella couldn’t ask for anything more than the life she and Liam share: a scalding hot passion that’s totally outside the bounds of “I do.”

Liam has hit a brick wall. His fortune can’t buy Ella’s freedom from the oppressive monster the law recognizes as her husband. Blaine will take any opportunity to bring Ella back under his authority, no doubt exacting a terrible revenge as punishment for nearly slipping away. But Liam has a force greater than money and influence on his side: Ella’s love. She sparks his most unstoppable determination—and ignites pleasures that no man should be able to possess.

(From Chapter 1: Liam)

How had I not seen this coming?

On some level, I’d known Ella—my Ella—still legally wore another man’s vows. I’d almost questioned her about the way she’d referred to him as her husband in the present tense. Instead, I’d followed my cock instead of logic. Rather than having her background checked nine ways to Sunday, I’d mooned over her with enough theatrics for her to have been some unobtainable, movie-star crush. Stupid. I’d known what we’d shared was too good to last.

“Liam?” she asked. Her voice sounded far away, as if the moments between my proposal and her proclamation had twisted time and the very earth beneath us until we now occupied our own islands, separated by shark-infested waters and vast, rolling banks of acid fog.

I hated her.

I loved her.

“Liam, you’re bleeding.”

I’d clenched her ring so hard that I’d cut my palm. Blood trailed down my wrists and over the stupid sapphire cuff links I’d bought on a whim when selecting her jewelry because they’d matched her blueberry eyes. Blood stained my starched white shirt.
Kneeling alongside me, she coaxed open my fist, taking the biting bauble. She tucked it into my shirt’s chest pocket before removing my tux coat from her shoulders to wrap one sleeve around my hand. She bundled the rest, wrapping and tucking until it became a black hornet’s nest growing off of my appendage.

“Instead of the party,” she said in a matter-of-fact tone, “let’s have your driver take us to the beach house. It’s been such a busy day—busy week,” she tacked on a chatty titter, “wouldn’t it be nice to ring in the new year on our own? We can make popcorn and watch a movie—anything you want. Oh—and we need to stop off for ice cream. We can’t have a party without ice cream.”

Was she even listening to herself? Why wouldn’t she stop this incessant babble?

“If you think about it, we have so much to be thankful for, and I really deep-down believe this year’s going to be great. You’ll keep growing your empire, and I’m going to start those online classes.”

“Stop.”

“You don’t want ice cream?”

I dont want you. Your complications. Your fucked-up past.

Only, that would be a lie, because that even though I knew she was bad for me—like popping an Ambien, then downing a few fingers of scotch—even if I washed my hands of her tonight, come morning, she’d still be in my head.

I didn’t want to just marry her, I wanted to possess her.

“Liam, please . . . talk to me.”

“What the hell am I supposed to say? I dont commit. You know that. So when I gave you my ring, it kind of meant something. Where do you get off, keeping a bombshell like this? If I hadn’t been dim-witted enough to propose, would you have ever told me?”

“Yes—no . . . maybe.”

Maybe?” At that, I had to laugh. “Christ, I’ve gotta get out of here. Away from you.”

“You ran away.”

She gives an unladylike snort. “You decided you were a delusion of my past, and then you expected me to sit there and listen to your insane ramblings. Thanks, but no. I can’t do that. I’ve had enough crazy for one life.” She bites her lip, and then blurts, “You stole my file, didn’t you? That’s how you know about the Boy.”

“Do you remember the firefly meadow?”

She goes still, and I smile, gently. “You do.”

“That wasn’t real,” she whispers, and I feel the shudder.

“We’d hide there, from the lost boys. And you’d fall asleep telling me your happy thoughts, and wake up to a galaxy of fireflies, and we’d chase them until you made yourself sick, laughing. And then I’d hold you and we’d stare at the stars, and you always said they were different. It smelled like jasmine and honey-“

“And wild woods and freedom,” she whispers, her blue eyes impossibly wide in her pretty face. I take a tentative step toward her, and touch her fingers.

Why are your stars different?

“It wasn’t a delusion, Gwendy. You know it wasn’t. Trust yourself.”

She shudders. “Can’t. My mind lies. It wasn’t—“

“Gwendy,” I say, desperately. Her eyes are filling with tears and I can feel the disbelief, the way it will tear apart the world I’ve known, and the girl I’ve loved, and I can’t. I move without thinking, catch her head and bring her lips to mine.

Girl Lost Synopsis:

Pageflex Persona [document: PRS0000026_00025]Northern was supposed to be a fresh start—a place where people didn’t know who I was or how I had spent years in and out of mental institutes. People didn't know about my parents death or the island no one heard of. But when Peter sits next to me in lit class, I can’t stop the memories, and I don’t want to. He looks too much like the boy from the island, and despite my best intentions, coaxes my secrets from me.

He’s gorgeous, irresistible, a little mad, and completely lost—we are a pair of broken cogs in a world neither of us truly fits into. He is somehow gentle and fierce, heartbreaking in his devotion and savage in his defense.

When Belle, his best friend, shows up, pale and lovely and sick, Peter pulls away from me, a startling withdrawal. It’s a relationship that scares and confuses me. She is at times warm and friendly, and other times is violent and unpredictable.

Peter says that he wants me, but refuses to let himself get close. And there are secrets, surrounding both of us, that border on nightmares. As the memories close in, as Belle gets sicker and more violent, I’m torn between what is true and what I believe, and what this magical boy knows about my mysterious past.

REVIEW: Something Reckless (Reckless & Real #1) By, Lexi Ryan

 photo GR_zps5fe521f1.jpg

He talks dirty to me, but I don’t know his name.

He wants to tie me up, but I don’t know his face.

He turns me on, but I couldn’t point him out in a crowd.

I’ve fallen for an anonymous stranger, and now the anonymity ends. I want more than typed secrets and texted promises. I want something reckless. Heat. Passion. The thrill of being entirely possessed.

Because I suspect this anonymous stranger isn’t a stranger at all.

*****

Lizzy Thompson met riverrat69 online through a service promising to deliver meaningful relationships by forbidding its users to share names or photos until they’ve reached a certain benchmark. She was looking for love. He was researching an investment. They hit it off. Talked and flirted, hid behind screen names and cartoon avatars.

Now they’re breaking the rules and meeting in person. But Liz is prepared. She’s picked up hints and followed clues. She’s nearly convinced she’s discovered the identity of her dirty-talking online friend.

She wonders if her ex-lover Sam Bradshaw knows her identity too.
When she rolls the dice on one reckless night, her chance at something real could crumble.

Something Reckless is part one of the Reckless & Real series. Part two, Something Real will be released in 2015.

Liz Thompson tried to give her virginity to the one guy she has always had a crush on but in a moment where he is the unusual good guy her turns her away. After years of the occasional hook up and one bad decision she is now trying to find mister right. Liz has signed up for multiple online dating sites. After multiple bad dates and many losers she finds a dating site that is completely anonymous. She meets a man that she is convinced is the man that keeps getting away. Sam Bradshaw.

Sam has been waiting for Liz since that night she was seventeen and that night along with the one after their friend’s wedding starts a long list of regrets where the two of them is concerned. He has never wanted a real relationship with anyone before until he thinks about giving in to the chemistry between him and Liz.

Now that Liz is working for Sam’s father they are starting to see each other daily and they realize their chemistry is not going away. Liz is looking for the real identity of River and Sam needs girl to clean up his image for his father’s campaign. Now Sam is falling for Liz, Liz is falling for Sam but now Liz is starting to question if Sam really is the person behind her internet lover, River. He knows things about her and says things that only Sam ever has but when Sam doesn’t know anything about the night her and River are supposed to meet she has to figure out who it could be. And the list might shatter her and Sam’s already fragile relationship.

Sam and Liz’s relationship is full of almost promises and misunderstandings. They both have a list of regrets that are starting to keep them apart. They both continue to unknowingly make decisions that affect their relationship. If they would just stop and communicate they could be happy….together. I could understand why they were emotionally guarded with each other, though. My problem with the book is not yet realized. This book is a two parter with a free prequel novella, that if you haven’t read you can read at the beginning of Something Reckless. The cliffhanger being resolved in the next book is really going to decide my rating for the overall series. Liz has made some pretty big mistakes but happens at the end she shouldn’t be blamed for. We will see where Lexi decides to take us when the second part comes out.

Exclusive Excerpt:
I awoke to the sun just beginning to rise, feeling like my body was going to overheat. At the weight of a large arm pressing on top of my stomach, I changed my position and rolled over onto my other side. Colton lay next to me, fast asleep, with his body facing me.
I let my eyes leisurely travel over his face—from his dark brows to the defined outline of his cheekbones and down to the sexy curves of his full lips. It made me recall just how soft and loving his sweet kisses were. Just the slightest touch of those lips held the power to release a field of butterflies in my belly…and my heart.
The conversation with Colton the prior night drowned my thoughts. I had no idea how we had gotten here. We were so close to one another, yet there seemed to be an insurmountable distance between us. I disliked feeling so far away from him. Even worse, I hated that I was the one causing it.
Knowing it was time to go, I slowly leaned my body up and propped forward on my elbows. I gazed at him one last time, wishing things could be different. Then, I leaned over, and with the slightest touch, I gingerly rested my lips against his temple and kissed him. I held back the urge to whisper just how much I loved him, fearing he would hear me and never let me go.

REVIEW: Riding it Out By, Jennifer Foor

 photo GR_zps5fe521f1.jpg

This beginning of this book was originally released in an anthology called AMERICAN HONEY, THE STORM, that is no longer available.

Riding it Out is the whole story told in two parts.
The Storm.
The Hurricane.

One woman
One man
An empty bed and breakfast
A summer storm
One night they'll never forget

Can two strangers find happiness in each other, or will past secrets make it impossible?

Jennifer mentions in the blurb that the beginning of the book was previously released in an Anthology. Riding it out is broken up into two different parts. “Erica” part 1 The Storm and “Reed” part 2 the hurricane. As you might have guessed the first part is told from Erica’s POV and the 2nd is told by Reed.

Erica inherits an old bed and breakfast from her aunt after she dies. When Erica goes to her lawyer to start the process of putting everything into her name a storm starts right when she enters the empty house. When a motorcycle rider shows up at her door looking for shelter for the night against her gut she lets him stay for the night.

Erica is a self-proclaim good girl and prude. She doesn’t have one night stands or even get intimate with men she doesn’t know really well. When she meet Reed she gets feelings that she isn’t used to and it makes her want to step out of the box she put herself in. With one crazy and intense night she needs to figure out what is going to make her happy. Staying in the house she has always loved or go back to the city and try and be happy.

This book was really interesting in the way it was written. Both parts are about a novella length and tell two different periods of Erica and Reed’s love story. The second part takes place a few months after the first part ends. I kind of wished the story ended in the first part but I also don’t We get to learn so much more about Reed and who he is in the second and I would have regretted not getting to know him. I would definitely recommend this story to every romance reader out there.
