Review
Ford is an Alliance Agent. Which is an agency like the CIA but they do more behind the scenes missions. They do not have the restrictions that the CIA or the FBI so. We open with Ford in the middle of a mission. He is undercover looking for information on a deadly gas. Ford is also tasked with getting information from a suspect’s cousin, Shay. When we meet the two of them Ford is already in the process of getting to know Shay. He hates that he has to use Shay but the mission always comes first.

Shay works as a property manager for her cousin, one that she hasn’t seen or heard from in a while. She has been burned by boyfriends before, even though she knows she should be hesitant with Ford she just can’t. There is something irresistible about Ford and she can’t stay away. She notices that Ford keeps a weird schedule but she keeps the relationship going. Everything comes to a head when she goes looking for her cousin and find all kinds of trouble instead.

The story starts out in the middle of their relationship. It opens with Ford lying to her and already feeling bad about it because he crossed the line into sleeping with her. We missing the beginning of her relationship and I think that made it hard for me to feel bad for him. Almost every time they are together he mentions how bad he feels about lying but he never comes clean. She literally stumbles her way into it. I wish that we had met them separately and then seen their relationship grow. I would have been more open to him legitimately feeling guilty. I also think Shay forgives him way too easily but I like a little groveling so it might just be me on that point.

While the lies and the relationship part didn’t work for me I really liked the undercover agents part of this. Getting to know all of the characters was a little confusing at first but then I finally figured everyone out and I really enjoyed their dynamic. This book is filled with action and suspense. Overall I thought the book was well written and I think I will be following this series.
