Jessica Ayers has lived a sheltered life with
little more than cello lessons and practices taking up her day. Now a member of
the Boston Symphony Orchestra, she escapes the prim and proper symphony to
vacation in the Seaside community in Wellfleet, Massachusetts, and determine if
she is living life to the fullest or missing it altogether.
For the first time since developing the second largest search engine in the world, billionaire Jamie Reed is taking the summer off. He plans to work from the Cape and spend time with his elderly grandmother—and falling in love is not in his plans.
From the moment Jamie and Jessica meet, the attraction is white-hot. Once-overly-focused Jamie can think of little else than sensual, smart, and alluring Jessica, and Jessica discovers a side of herself she never knew existed. But when Jamie’s business encounters trouble and his attorney and best friend intervenes, he proves that the blond beauty is too distracting for Jamie. To make matters worse, it appears that Jessica might not be who she says she is, turning Jamie’s life—and his heart—upside down. In a world where personal information is always one click away, Jamie must decide if he should trust his heart or watch the woman he loves walk away.

This is the third book in the Seaside Summers series.
We get another amazing story from this group of summer vacationers. When I was
looking at Melissa Foster’s upcoming books I was disappointed that Amy’s book
wasn’t the next one. I have been so anxious to get my hands on it that I was
sad at first it was Jamie’s book that I got instead. But let me tell you I am
not sad anymore. This book was a great addition to the series and I loved both
Jessica and Jamie.
“He was so much more than a distraction.
He was becoming the air she needed to breathe.”
Jessica Ayers has lives a sheltered life. Not
really getting to experience anything other than her cello and music. Her
mother has always pushed her to be the best cellist she could and because of that
she missed a lot of normal experiences. Jessica has decided to take a hiatus
from the Orchestra she is with to decide if she really loves it as much as she
thinks she does and to get some of those normal experiences. Then she ends up
decking Jamie, another resident, with her cell phone. She was not ready for the
all-consuming chemistry that was between them from the first sight. Jessica was
a very different character than we have seen with the Seaside women. She is
very inexperienced, naive, and unsure of herself. She hasn’t had many friends
and she wasn’t used to the way the Seaside girls joked around with each other.
Underneath that, waiting to come out, was a fun smart and funny girl that fit
in so well in Seaside. Jessica was sweet and definitely talented. She was also
very caring and thoughtful which made her a great addition to the group.
“He didn’t need anything more. She
felt his feelings seep through his skin to her very soul, coming together with
hers and filling all the lonely, empty spaces she’d always known were there.”
Jamie Reed is in Seaside for a much needed
vacation. He has not taken a really one in almost eight years. But with his
grandmother getting older he wants to spend as much time as possible with her.
Jamie went through a horrible tragedy when he was younger that made it easy for
him to throw himself into his work. Now he is worth millions and that has made
it hard for him to trust and let women in. Until he sees Jessica for the first
time. He knows there is something different about her and he determined to get
to know her. Jamie’s character is a bit of a workaholic. He also takes the time
to take care of his grandmother. He is sweet and sexy which is something we
really didn’t get to know with the first two books. I felt like Jamie was a bit
of a mystery for me in the beginning. He wasn’t as prominent as the other
characters in the first two books. It was great learning how caring, open, and
sweet he was to the people he cared about most.
“Love is painful and beautiful at the
same time. Sometimes it grips your lungs so tight you’re sure you’ll die for
lack of air, and then it drags you down and beats you until you wish you would
die. And just as quickly, it fills your lungs with helium and you think you
might float away.”
Melissa Foster has created some of my favorite
stories ever and I loved how this one was just a bit different than her normal.
Her books (from what I can see) don’t have very much angst or drama in them. There
are not big moments that separate our couple for days or months until they
decide to fix it. This time though we got a taste of some drama. Jamie and
Jessica split for like three days and it was completely perfect with the story.
It worked with Jamie’s trust issues and Jessica’s inexperience with
relationships. It added a depth to the story. Not every story needs to be
dripping with drama and Melissa proves that point. There was only a touch of
drama and it was enough. I think the Seaside series is quickly becoming one of
my favorite series ever. I would definitely recommend this series and the entire
Love in Bloom series to all romance readers out there.
