REVIEW: Something Reckless (Reckless & Real #1) By, Lexi Ryan

He talks dirty to me, but I don’t know his name.

He wants to tie me up, but I don’t know his face.

He turns me on, but I couldn’t point him out in a crowd.

I’ve fallen for an anonymous stranger, and now the anonymity ends. I want more than typed secrets and texted promises. I want something reckless. Heat. Passion. The thrill of being entirely possessed.

Because I suspect this anonymous stranger isn’t a stranger at all.

*****

Lizzy Thompson met riverrat69 online through a service promising to deliver meaningful relationships by forbidding its users to share names or photos until they’ve reached a certain benchmark. She was looking for love. He was researching an investment. They hit it off. Talked and flirted, hid behind screen names and cartoon avatars.

Now they’re breaking the rules and meeting in person. But Liz is prepared. She’s picked up hints and followed clues. She’s nearly convinced she’s discovered the identity of her dirty-talking online friend.

She wonders if her ex-lover Sam Bradshaw knows her identity too.
When she rolls the dice on one reckless night, her chance at something real could crumble.

Something Reckless is part one of the Reckless & Real series. Part two, Something Real will be released in 2015.

Liz Thompson tried to give her virginity to the one guy she has always had a crush on but in a moment where he is the unusual good guy her turns her away. After years of the occasional hook up and one bad decision she is now trying to find mister right. Liz has signed up for multiple online dating sites. After multiple bad dates and many losers she finds a dating site that is completely anonymous. She meets a man that she is convinced is the man that keeps getting away. Sam Bradshaw.

Sam has been waiting for Liz since that night she was seventeen and that night along with the one after their friend’s wedding starts a long list of regrets where the two of them is concerned. He has never wanted a real relationship with anyone before until he thinks about giving in to the chemistry between him and Liz.

Now that Liz is working for Sam’s father they are starting to see each other daily and they realize their chemistry is not going away. Liz is looking for the real identity of River and Sam needs girl to clean up his image for his father’s campaign. Now Sam is falling for Liz, Liz is falling for Sam but now Liz is starting to question if Sam really is the person behind her internet lover, River. He knows things about her and says things that only Sam ever has but when Sam doesn’t know anything about the night her and River are supposed to meet she has to figure out who it could be. And the list might shatter her and Sam’s already fragile relationship.

Sam and Liz’s relationship is full of almost promises and misunderstandings. They both have a list of regrets that are starting to keep them apart. They both continue to unknowingly make decisions that affect their relationship. If they would just stop and communicate they could be happy….together. I could understand why they were emotionally guarded with each other, though. My problem with the book is not yet realized. This book is a two parter with a free prequel novella, that if you haven’t read you can read at the beginning of Something Reckless. The cliffhanger being resolved in the next book is really going to decide my rating for the overall series. Liz has made some pretty big mistakes but happens at the end she shouldn’t be blamed for. We will see where Lexi decides to take us when the second part comes out.
