Tattoo artist Keelie Jessup can handle that someone else has claimed the man of her dreams. She’s just not pleased with her remaining options…

Keelie doesn’t believe in the “perfect man.” But the men who are worth the trouble are usually taken—like her business partner Zach Barnes. After a string of bad luck and the lost chance with Zach, Keelie decides that maybe flying solo—and living with suppressed desires—is the key to happiness.

As a photographer, Zane Barnes has an eye for the human form, and his eyes can’t get enough of Keelie’s curves. Unfortunately, Keelie is like most women—always fawning over his little brother, Zach. Zane is about ready to give up, but then a few stolen moments at his brother’s wedding have him thinking maybe there’s a chance there after all. Now he just has to prove that the perfect man does exist…for her.

I have yet to read the first Barnes Brother book but I really liked this one so it is safe to say I will definitely be going back to read it. From what I have heard we meet Keelie in the first book and she seems to have a pretty big role but we learn all we need to in this book. So not having met her in the first book didn’t really ruin the story for me.

I really was on the fence about this story before all of the secrets were out. I just wasn’t connecting with the story. I mean you could see that Zane had a crush on Keelie but Keelie was very wishy washy with him. She ran hot and cold before they each felt safe enough to share their secrets. But once they shared their secrets I was so into the story I couldn’t put the book down. Once the secrets started to be revealed I could really connect with the story.

Zane was such a great character. He was a really kind and supportive person to everyone in his life and particularly to Keelie. Even though his secrets could have crumbled him he was always the support figure for everyone. Zane was always there to listen to, care for, and love the people he considers family.

Keelie’s secret seems to be more of a hindrance for her. It has been her downfall for so long she really doesn’t know how to live without the burden. But that burden made her into the Keelie she is in this book and with some work she gets to lighten the burden and brought her back to a long lost friend. Like I said in the beginning I wasn’t her biggest fan but I got over it. The other characters were enough to bring me through the story without actually liking the heroine.

This story was emotional, intense, and passionate. These characters go through so many transformations. They learn to live with their secrets and that having someone carry the burden with you might be the best thing possible. I will definitely be reading more of the Barnes Brothers series.
