Along comes Micah Blake ...
My Thoughts ....
In this collection each book is referred to as a chapter. The books are actually pretty quick reads but I am going to review them separately.
Chapter 1 - Give Me the Reason
"As an angel is he
Alone in this world
With the wealth of three
He'll meet his true love
Answering her song
His wings he will grow
His heart will respond
Him she will follow
His wife she will be
Two joined making three "
In the prologue we start out seeing the protagonist through a man's POV. We are not exactly sure who it is. It's pretty sweet how we practically see him fall in love with her on the spot. This is the only chapter that is not in Vivienne's POV. We start out learning about the awful lot she got in life. She is desperately trying to get her life back together.
Mikah has a strange pull towards a woman he doesn't know but can tell that she needs the help he can provide. Being the multi- millionaire he is. He doesn't know why he feels the need to help but he is going to keep pushing until she accepts the help he can tell she needs.
Vivienne, oh, Vivienne. You drive me nuts sometimes. I get that this pregnancy came from horrible circumstances but that is no reason to not eat and take care of yourself. Yes, it is admirable you want to do things for yourself and you don't have the money to eat but to me it seemed a bit far-fetched that she didn't know about food stamps and things. I think that is the one and only thing about this series that bothered me but I got over it. Vivienne seemed to be a strong person other than being really stubborn and prideful.
Mikah. I like him already. Clearly he doesn't know how to help someone without making them feel like a charity case but it's part of his charm. Hahaha. We don't know a lot about him but I can tell he cares already about Vivienne and he is probably going to be ridiculously swoon-worthy.
Hot damn that cliffhanger. It's a horrible thing to do to someone ... good thing I have the others ....
Chapter 2 - Give Me Hope
This is the second installment in the Reason series. This book is told through Mikah's POV. We open sometime before the end of the first book. Mikah is being questioned by Detective Stevens about his car hanging out (stalking) Vivienne's apartment. It was totally cute he was still hanging around her apartment even though she kicked him out. I really like Mikah's character. He's genuine and sweet. Then we get to find out what happens to Vivienne ..
I liked that we got to see the next part of the story through Mikah's POV. We also got to have a lot of our questions about the mysterious Mikah answered. The poem from the first book hints that Mikah is an angel. Well surprise! He is. He is finally coming into his wings and he learns he was groomed for this by his mother. Without even knowing about it. He is Vivienne's guardian. Mikah is completely amazing through this whole book. Taking care of anything Vivienne needs and being better about pushing her to accept his help. Most of the time. I don't blame him. That stubborn girl needs it.
Vivienne is in the hospital again. Riley really did a number on her. With the help of Mikah, she begins to heal, and at a pretty fast rate. She is in a medical induced coma for half of this book. So we don't get to learn very much more about her. Once she wakes up I like that she has given Mikah a chance. She also, kinda, learns to take the help she desperately needs.
Chapter Three-Give Me Desire
The book opens up with a prologue that is neither Mikah nor Vivienne. It has to do with the devil and some unknown man. (By this point we know who it is.) But we also find out that one of her friends might be involved with some of what is happening to Vivienne. The book goes back to being in Vivienne's POV. The first chapter starts out in a dream in the white room. The same dreams we saw with Mikah.
I think this might have been my favorite of the three books so far and probably my favorite of the four. Vivienne finally starts to let her guard down and realizes she has feelings for Mikah. She wants to spend more and more time with him and misses him when he isn't there. She even starts to refer to the baby as "ours." It's so sweet. She figures out she is an angel as well. I love that we have figured out that the dreams are shared. The dreams gave to Mikah and Vivienne without Vivienne shooting them down.
Mikah is being his normal sweet self through this whole book. He takes care of her and her unborn child. He makes sure she wants for nothing. He is still trying to figure out this whole angel thing and until the end he doesn't even know that Vivienne knows everything. I love that Mikah is so focused on making her happy and not pushing her. It's a weird situation but they are making the best of it.
Finally by the end Vivienne can no longer deny what she feels for Mikah or what Mikah feels for her. She gives and in all and accepts he has to offer. Thank god. It took her long enough.
Chapter 4 - Give Me Love
This is the fourth and final book. The book is narrated as a third person. After reading the other books it was kind of hard to get used to but I ended up enjoying it this way more. You get to know how everyone feels about what is happening in the book. Which I always like. Instead of guessing. We also get a few scenes between the devil and Riley. Which was interesting. I thought adding this part to the story gave us more information into the trouble he is giving Vivienne. And why.
We got a lot of closure in this book. We saw how everything ended with Mikah. Some pretty big heartbreak that I wasn't sure if I enjoyed. (I definitely didn't) No more cliffhangers. Vivienne has everything she wanted and she deserves everything, and all the happiness she can get. Love it. If anyone deserved it, it was her. Also Vivienne gets to confront her mother for everything she did to her. Her mother was a royal bitch. I really hate her. But at least Vivienne can move on.
Mikah is every bit the swoon-worthy guy I thought he would be in the beginning. Mikah gives Vivienne and Madison all they could ever want including the love Vivienne has never had but always needed.
As a whole this series was pretty good. There are a lot of different angel stories out there but this one was different and enjoyable. It was emotional and funny, loving and heartbreaking. All in the same four books. The story had a nice flow to it even broken up. I 'm not sure they needed to be broken up but that's not for me to decide. They were worth it!
I enjoyed this book a whole lot. It's the first thing I have read from this author and I think that I will continue to read more. If I get attached I read all of their books ... I think Zoey Derrick just made the list. This is a new author I definitely need to watch out for.
