After a night of raw passion with the man Claire O’Briene had been secretly admiring for years, she thought their time together had come once and for all. Fate had finally brought them back to each other, but unfortunately nothing had changed. He was still the same man who ran away from relationships. Against his better judgment, Mason Bradley gave in to the temptation and allowed himself one night with the one woman he’d been too afraid to want … too afraid to need.

Six months after leaving Claire and regretting every minute of it, Mason gets called in for an undercover mission that’s not only dangerous, but brings back a past he spent years trying to forget. A past of fighting … of getting in the ring and using his fists to get what he wanted: money, women, and drugs. Now there are fighters turning up dead, and it’s Mason’s job to find out the truth.

Knowing he might not come out of the mission alive, Mason seeks out Claire to tell her how he truly feels, only to find another man competing for her love as well. Fighting is what he’s good at, and for once he will be fighting not only for justice … but for love.

This is the third book in the Second Chances series by L.P. Dover. We follow Mason and Claire through their journey in Las Vegas when Mason’s job has him going undercover in an MMA fighting ring. I think this book is my favorite so far. I loved Mason and I really liked Claire.

Claire put her heart on her sleeve for Mason one time already and he left her. 4 months later she is trying to move on with someone else when he shows back up to tell her he made a mistake. Then he leaves again. Only this time she can help him. I liked Claire. She was feisty and she made him actually work for the apology she deserved. After being a complete jerk she didn’t just invite him back with open arms. She was strong a stubborn but in the best ways.

Mason is a detective in North Carolina. We met him in the second book when he went after his cousin Melissa after she was kidnapped by her ex-husband. Mason is now on a mission to find out who is killing MMA fighters in Las Vegas but before he leaves for this dangerous mission he has to fix the one moment he regrets. Letting Claire go. Mason was such an amazing character. He was sexy, sweet, and a total MMA hunk. I mean who doesn’t love those fighter novels. Mason’s character was also caring and loving. Plus he can write one hell of a love letter.

This is definitely my favorite book from this series so far. Not only is there danger and angst but Mason is an MMA fighter. So hot. The writing was just as amazing in this book as it has been in the previous two. The story line is what made this book for me!
