REVIEW: Too Hot to Handle (The Boys of Summer #2) By, Katie Ross

Katie Rose’s Boys of Summer series returns for a delicious double-header—with the story of total opposites who are drawn to each other like moths to a flame.

Nikki Case is no fan of baseball. Her ex gambled away a fortune on the sport, and now her PR firm has tasked her with cleaning up the league’s most notorious bad boys. The New Jersey Sonics are known for wild womanizing and booze-fueled brawls, so Nikki expects the worst. Her first stop in the battle to win hearts and minds is star hitter Jake Baldwin—a legendary ladies man so smokin’ he threatens to melt her tough-girl armor.

Although his teammates prank her without mercy, Jake admires the way Nikki gives as good as she gets. She may be the queen of frost, but there’s kindling beneath those sultry curves—and he’s just the man to ignite it. But when a PR nightmare lands the Sonics in headlines across the country, Nikki is ready to walk. Only then does Jake realize how important she is to the Sonics’ success—and that winning the love of a good woman is no game.

Review
Nikki Case is being brought in to change the image of the Sonics. The whole team is in need of a major makeover. Nikki is straight laced and isn’t scared by a team full of men that make it their mission to make her miserable. When she gets there and sees the position the team has put the owner in, she doesn’t hold any of her feelings back. She starts to make huge changes and sets out new rules. When Jake walks in late he has no idea what is in store for him.

Jake Baldwin is the star of the Sonic both on and off the field. Jake arrives late the day the new PR arrives and immediately get challenged to make her fall in love with him. Nikki immediately shuts him down. Jake keeps trying to use his tricks to win her over but when he realizes that it wont work he shows her pieces of the real him. He cares about his teammates and people less fortunate than he is. Right when Nikki thought there were no redeeming qualities about Jake she finds that he has more than a few of them.

This was a sweet story that had moments were it was really hot. The story was a bit predictable but sometimes you need that. You need a light, sweet read that brings a smile to your face whether it’s predictable or not. Nikki was a strong character that didn’t let the men on the team run her around or intimate her. Jake was a play boy that had more to him. He was actually a pretty great guy. If you are looking for a light read with great characters and lots of steam this one is for you!
