A promise to keep…
Honoring her mother's last wish, Lane Channing vows to follow her dreams. She takes the 'big risk' and leaves her small Kansas town behind and heads to LA, the city of dreams. She's got a stellar job lined up, an old jeep, and 20 bucks to last her to her first paycheck. Her hopes shatter when she arrives to find her job's been given to someone else. Now she's broke and will soon be living on the streets if she doesn't do something fast. Welcome to cutthroat - Lane is most certainly not in Kansas anymore.
On the cusp of success...
Dillon MacAvoy has one goal–to become a star--whatever it takes. Even if it means honing his bad-boy can’t-be-tamed-and-forever-single image. Besides the image isn't far from the truth. Dillon cares only about his younger brother and his career. He's on the brink of superstardom if he can just decide on the next right script. But for that, he needs a script reader he can trust.
In a strange twist of fate...
Lane Channing is Dillon's last chance. If Lane lasts the summer without becoming MacAvoy's latest conquest, she's guaranteed a job in entertainment. No problem, as long as she can ignore the heat that pulses through her every time Dillon is in the room. After all, love and commitment with a sweet, hometown girl would only ruin the Dillon MacAvoy brand.

My thoughts….
"Nothing
is too much for you...I need you to know that, to understand. Nothing is too
much for you, Lane...You are becoming my everything."
If you love books about people and relationships in Hollywood this is one
that you definitely need to pick up. It is steamy and sexy and everything that
is great about Hollywood romance books.
Dillan is an up and coming actor trying to get his big break as the next
big star. Lane just wants to work on movies. She thought she had an internship
that they gave away. She ends up working for Dillan…and she will have a job
waiting for her if she can keep the job the entire summer. The only problem is
Dillan has a reputation of bedding and then immediately firing his readers. As
long as Lane can ignore his charm and the heat between them she will golden.
Lane was an
interesting character. She went to L.A. with no money and no plan B if this
internship didn’t work out. And she didn’t know the difference between a paying
job and an internship. It was crazy. Other than her being kind of naive I liked
her. She was realistic about what she thought her relationship with Dillan was.
She was willing to break her own heart so that he could get everything he ever
wanted. She was sweet and kind to everyone even when they didn’t deserve it.
She was a character that everyone could like.
Dillan on the
other hand was not a character everyone could like….in the beginning. He was
compete asshole. I really didn’t like him even a little in the beginning. He
was self-centered and had an ego the size of Texas. But he learned and Lane
brought out the complete swoon-worthy guy Dillan ended up being. He figured out
what was important to him eventually. But even under all of the assholeishness
he was a decent guy that wanted to have a career in one the toughest businesses.
The other
characters were great too. Choo was hilarious and a great friend to Lane even
with his loyalties to his brother. I really liked Amanda too she was down to
earth even after growing up in the business.
This was a steamy
book that was a great addition to the Hollywood romance genre. I can’t wait to
read the next one!
“Lane, I’m sorry.
I can’t live this life without you… I won’t live this life without you. Please
let me spend the rest of my life proving to you that nothing, nothing in this
world has meaning without you.”
